The B.O.G. Cabin: An open-source, Off-Grid cabin anyone can build

Imagine a house you can build yourself—designed from the ground up to be entirely off-grid. The real challenge with off-grid living isn’t heating; it’s cooling. But what if a house was so efficient you could keep it relatively cool with just 400 watts? Of course, this will vary depending on where you are, and I still need to build the prototype to prove it works. But once the idea is out there, it’s open source—anyone will be able to build it, and honestly, there’s no way I can stop 'em.

I call this version the B.O.G. cabin. A compact, efficient design for people ready to shift toward an off-grid lifestyle. It’s bigger than my current tiny house but (should be) way easier to heat and cool. This isn’t just a house—it’s a tool for surviving and thriving in a world where the economy’s on shaky ground, inflation is rising, and housing is becoming harder to afford.

And here’s the thing: I want to share the process with as many people as possible. If I do this right, it’ll attract a lot more people to follow along. Because as things get more uncertain, this kind of self-sufficient home could offer a real solution. It’s practical, sustainable, and—let’s face it—when avocado toast is going extinct, it’s time to rethink the way we live.
